Are you putting off having your pipes checked?
Checking the pipes may not be at the top of most people’s to-do lists at home, but the consequences can be significant if you completely overlook it. We’ll explain why you shouldn’t put off checking your pipes!
A pipe inspection can save you a lot of money. Over time, all pipes build up a layer of grease, chemicals and food residues. This build-up will only increase over time, and most of us aren’t particularly good at thinking about maintenance and preventing blocked pipes in our day-to-day lives.
By carrying out a pipe inspection, you’ll be able to monitor the condition of your pipes and carry out any necessary repairs if required. This way, you can go to bed at night with a clear conscience and without worrying about any pipe-related problems. After all, you are responsible for ensuring that the drainpipes from your house – also known as the service pipe – are in good condition.
When should you have your pipes checked?
Pipe inspections aren’t something you need to carry out every year. It’s generally sufficient to check your pipes every 10 years. Feel free to consult local professionals for advice on when you should carry out your next pipe inspection, as this may depend on various factors in your area.
If you have purchased a property that is more than 30 years old, it is recommended that you have the pipework inspected, unless there is documentation to show that this has recently been carried out.
These signs indicate that you should carry out a pipe inspection:
Pipe inspections must be carried out by qualified professionals
There are many providers of pipe inspection and pipe flushing services on the market, but not all of them operate with the same level of professionalism. Make sure that the pipe inspection company you are considering is a member of Rørinspeksjon Norge (RIN). Vitek Miljø aims to help improve safety and provide accurate information to those who need it. Vitek Miljø is also an established specialist in all services relating to pipes and drainage systems, with particular expertise in pipe cleaning, inspection and renewal.

Signs of blocked or old drainpipes
We at Vitek Miljø are here to help should any unexpected problems arise. If you notice one or more of these warning signs, it is highly likely that your drainpipes are becoming blocked or worn out.
- A foul smell reminiscent of sewage.
- Backflow from the drain. If the drainpipe is damaged or blocked, this can prevent the water from passing through, causing it to come up out of the drain.
- Gurgling noises in the pipes.
- There are various causes of leaks in drainage pipes, and one of them is that the pipes are old and need replacing.
It is important to identify the problem as soon as possible if you have had an accident. We offer professional pipe inspection to identify the cause of the problem and assist you with further investigation. Vitek Miljø has experienced operators and the latest equipment and machinery on the market.

Is it time to replace the pipes?
We can help you replace old pipes in a sustainable way!
Pipe rehabilitation is a process whereby new pipes are inserted inside the old ones, without the need for excavation or demolition. The new pipe consists of a liner which is forced into the old pipe using compressed air. This means there is no need to dispose of the old pipes, and materials that would otherwise have gone to waste are reused.
Pipe renewal is an environmentally friendly choice that reduces the environmental impact by approximately 90% compared with conventional methods.
